BushMoot is an opportunity for those with an interest in bushcraft to gather together and expand your knowledge through mutual skill sharing.
It doesn’t matter whether you are experienced or new to bushcraft, everyone is welcome. It's an opportunity to practise skills, attend courses, socialise, visit the local area or just relax and enjoy the natural setting.
Absolutely! We have lots of families who come for the event as well as individuals and couples.
Yes, there's parking in the main car park area of the site.
There is limited space for small van sized campers, please check with us before booking to ensure there's space available.
BushMoot Reception is located between the carpark and our camping area. You check-in here upon arrival, where our team can provide further orientation.
There are no specified pitches, just sign in at reception and find somewhere to camp within the allocated camping area. There are quiet areas, not so quiet areas, and lots in between. All we ask is that you don’t run guy lines over or block foot paths.
Absolutely, many BushMooters choose to use a hammock! We see a variety of camp set-ups from small one man tents, tarps with a sleep mat, even right up to bell tents.
In a word, no. Most people bring portable power packs for charging phones and radios, however there may be a chance to charge up phones in the reception area, please just check with the team.
Workshops are scheduled during the CORE DAYS of the Moot. We run up to 80 workshops, demonstrations, and talks over the core days; these are free to attend, although a small materials fee is sometimes requested if you participate in resource heavy activities.
Courses are organised day-long or multi-day events that cost an additional fee to attend.
Some workshops are pre-advertised for the Summer BushMoot.
For all Moots we update a schedule board at reception each evening, where the following days activities are posted.
During the 'Core' days there are planned activities for people to share their knowledge and skills. Most mornings there is a briefing where people are updated about any workshops being offered. If there was something in particular you want to learn, this is when you ask.
Most workshops are free, and for some a donation is requested to cover material costs. The workshops are all run by volunteers who provide the relevant equipment at their own cost, so sometimes you will be asked to put a few pounds in to the tin.
There are two types of workshop, these are “come and learn” and “courses”. The come and learn are very much that, there is a main notice board with workshop times and locations - if you see something you like, just arrive at the allotted time.
For the courses, these are usually run outside the 'Core' dates, and will need to be booked before hand. Full details and costs will be posted on the website under “courses”.
Yes, these are predominately craft based, however many of the other activities are suitable for all ages if assisted by an adult. Parents or guardians must supervise their children.
Absolutely, this is what the Moot is all about, we love enthusiastic people! Just speak to a member of the team and we will do what we can to accommodate you. If you want to organise things before the Moot email info@bushmoot.com
If there is a particular skill you wish to master and no one is running a workshop, just ask at the morning meetings and if someone can help, the team will try and fit it in the program. Many of the workshops have come from people asking “can anyone show me how to…”
Yes there are bins available, but please limit your rubbish and keep the site tidy.
There are water points around the site, however the deeper you go into the woods, the further away from these points you are, so bear this in mind when choosing your pitch.
The water on site is mains feed, so there should be no reason why you would have a problem, no more so than staying anywhere in the UK.
Yes. There are a number of both male and female toilets, along with segregated washrooms and shower facilities.
Within reception there are a selection of bushcraft items such as knives, paracord, and lighters, along with snacks such as chocolates and sweets. Larger shops for everyday items are available within a short distance of the campsite.
Along with the shop there is a 'Bring and Buy' in reception, this is very popular and for a 10% fee, you can leave your priced and named items on the tables for us to sell, most items will be sold.
Appropriate sized fires are permitted in fire trays, fire bowls etc., please be cautious. Please ensure the fire is not left unattended and is fully extinguished and cleaned away before leaving the site.
Firewood can be purchased from us by prior arrangement or you are more than welcome to bring firewood of your own. Please do not forage for firewood on the site.
Yes this is not a problem, however if you carry any sharp tool, you also need to carry a first aid kit. Children under 16 are not permitted to carry a knife when not with a parent or guardian. They are free to use them in your own camp or at workshops when they are appropriately supervised by you.
Yes, however please bear in mind this is a family camp so act appropriately when drinking, and in the interest of safety, don’t drink and carry, or use sharp tools.
Yes please. It helps us keep track of who's on site for safety reasons. Please make sure that any fire has been properly cleared and that your camping area is cleared of all litter etc. Please ensure you follow a 'leave no trace' policy.
