WinterMoot

Man sitting outdoors reading a book called Food and Fire

The perfect blend of adventure, flavour and fun

WinterMoot is our Festival of Outdoor Cookery, based on outdoor cooking and related crafts and skills. It covers various preparation and cooking skills, from butchering to pancakes and roasts to fire management, as well as safety, hunting and other related skills.

I found it very relaxing and to dip in and out of the activities. It was an ideal number of classes. And the location was fantastic.
— Colin G

It’s up to you how involved you want to be; there’s no pressure, you can relax or knead bread, go for a walk or carve a spoon, it’s up to you.

If you have a specific skill, craft or cooking interest that you would like to spend time on, let us know so that we can try to include it in the programme. Alternatively, if you have skills and knowledge you would like to share, we’d love to make that happen; after all, the Moots are all about skill sharing.

Full Event vs Day Tickets

The full event takes place between Monday 17 - Sunday 23 February 2025

Camping days can be purchased individually, so if you can only make it for three days, just buy three. *If you want to be at the event for five days or more, it’s better to purchase a Full Event ticket.

A day ticket entitles you to be on site for a day and night, 10am-10am. If you need to discuss any other times then please get in CONTACT.

Location

The 2025 Winter Moot (and Summer Moot) is located at:

Food

As this is an outdoor cooking event, everyone who has a ticket to attend will get to share in what’s produced in the cooking workshops that you’re involved in. It will generally be a taster of what’s produced. It all depends on what is being made, how much, and how many people are involved.

The focus of the event is to enjoy and learn cooking skills in the outdoors.

Please note that this is a self-catering event with some food produced during workshops. You will need to make sure that you have your own food for your needs*.

*Breakfasts and Evening meals can be provided as a paid extra on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; each day, there will be an opportunity to sign up for whatever meal is available the next morning and evening.

£5 Breakfast wrap - Every morning: Tuesday - Sunday
£8 Evening - Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Please ensure you have enough food and cooking equipment for your personal needs; the shops are a short drive away if needed.

Schedule

We plan to have workshops/cooking sessions Tuesday - Saturday (Monday and Sunday are for arriving, setting up, settling in and departing)

Fires & Firewood

Fires are allowed on site but need to be raised off of the ground. Please bring your own fire pit/bowl/raised fire platform with you if you intend on having your own fire.

Firewood will be provided for the workshops, feel free to bring your own if you want a fire in your camp. Alternatively, firewood can be pre-purchased by arrangement with us. Drop us a. line CONTACT

No firewood can be foraged from the woodland as it is an SSSI registered site with strict rules.

Parking & kit

There is plenty of parking and the camping area isn’t far from the parking area, we will provide a barrow or trolly for moving kit from car to pitch.

There are plenty of toilets and showers on site.
You can tent, tarp or hammock; there are plenty of clear areas and trees.
